Amber Greene was working for Cool Beauty when the pandemic started, and the world shut down. She worked for cosmetics companies like Estée Lauder and Aveda before, but never in a time where personal connections were discouraged.
Since the country shut down in March of 2020, Amber was told that she would be coming back to work whenever doors started to open again. For five months, she collected unemployment with the notion that she would return to work for Cool Beauty.
“I didn’t actively look for a job. I left that for the people that needed it. I didn’t think I would need it,” Amber says.
Amber had to face the consequences of an unfulfilled promise. She was experienced in a field that no longer was hiring, which made job hunting a task.
After five months of job rejections and unfruitful employment searches, Amber woke up and told her husband, “I’m done.” It was now January 2021. After all this time had passed, she started to think it was time to stop searching for a position and start making one.
“I know what I’m capable of and I know the skills and the talents that I possess as far as it comes to sales and business,” Amber says.
Amber sought out the help of Innovation Connector in Muncie, Indiana. Innovation Connector is a networking company that assists customers in starting and sustaining a successful business. Amber met Theodore Baker, the CEO of Innovation Connector. Baker helped Amber start Fate Style Studio.
“Amber is an example of what can happen when you want to [start a business] right,” Baker says.
Amber opened Fate Style Studio’s doors on Saturday, July 10, 2021, in Yorktown, Indiana. Fate Style Studio can be found at 8129 W Adaline St. The business is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
