Transgender in America

Kathrynne Horine is a 30-year-old transgender woman. Born in a small town, she wouldn’t even hear the word transgender until her final year of college. Like many transgender people, Kathrynne struggled to find support both from her family and from society. Kathrynne is one of about 700,000 transgender individuals in the United States according to the Williams Institute of the UCLA School of Law. Millennials like Kathrynne are twice as likely to identify as LGBT.

Staff Writer Anthony Lombardi interviews Kathrynne about her concerns and thoughts as her story is published. Kathrynne’s story is just one part of the larger conversation. To read Kathrynne’s full story “A Shift In Support,” pick up the fall issue of Ball Bearings Magazine, on stands November 2.
