How to: Refresh with Yoga

Ball State offers several yoga classes throughout the week, but this physical and mental exercise can also be done at home. By learning basic poses, anyone can exercise through yoga.

Yoga, an exercise that has been used for thousands of years, is one way that aerobics instructor Shannon Powers has been working to improve her body and mind for more than 20 years. Powers teaches this exercise to students in her classes and demonstrates seven simple moves for anyone looking to begin yoga.

After someone has completed yoga, they are more likely to have improved focus and complete tasks more efficiently. This could be due to the exercise clearing the mind and allowing the individual to focus on the body, according to a Huffington Post article.

With proper stretching and additional healthy lifestyle choices, doing yoga once a week can improve a person’s physical and mental well-being.
